How to boost your immune system before the madness of the holidays.
The holidays are here and with Christmas right around the corner we figured you would need these great tips. A pre- holiday detox will boost your immune system and keep you healthy during the hectic holiday season. While most people are indulging in sweets, pastries, and high fatty foods this season, allowing your GI rest and detoxification can help your body stay in tip -top shape. When we go through the process of a GI cleanse we allow our body to reduce its focus on digestion and increase focus on rebuilding and repairing damaged cells on our body. Not only that but you are also drinking fruits and vegetable juice high in antioxidants! In this post we will provide you with a list of our recommendations to stay healthy this holiday season.
Begin your day with a glass of warm water and a squeeze of lemon. Water is essential for detoxification and lemons aid in removing toxin as well as detoxifying your liver. Lemons are also high in vitamin C which will boost your immune system (you get an early head start ;) )
Do a 3 Day Juice cleanse to flush your body with loads of antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins that will boost your immune system. During a 3 day juice cleanse you are resting the GI system allowing for your body to focus less on digestion and more on repair and cleansing. We recommend a 3 day detox, specially if your diet is high in fatty or processed foods. Check out our Detox and detox guidelines on our site!
Get to bed earlier than normal. Your body fixes itself while you sleep, it does this by releasing growth and repair hormones. These hormones are most active between 10PM and 2AM. Many studies have shown that sleep we get before midnight is twice as powerful as sleep after midnight. Do your best to be in bed during this window. If you have a hard time falling asleep, develop a sleep routine, turn off all bright lights about an hour before bed, take a hot shower or bath, have some tea, use a lavender essential oil, etc.
Before showering, dry brush your body from top to bottom. Dry brushing will help exfoliate old skin and open up your pores for optimum detoxification through your pores. We also recommend trying a sauna or a steam room to get your sweat on! Sweating is critical for detoxification of your skin and body.
Limit your caffeine intake to one cup a day, if you must have more than one try swapping for herbal tea like peppermint, green tea, or ginger tea which are also great for digestion support.
Include a cleansing juice daily. Juices like Just Celery, The Hulk, Mean Green, Charcoal lemonade and Skinny green to name a few will continue your process of detoxification way after your juice cleanse. Plus you get your serving of fruit and veggie through out the day. You can enjoy your juice for breakfast or as a mid day snack.
We hope these tips help you get a head start to a healthier and detoxifying New Year. Give yourself the gift of health this holiday season. Don't forget to follow us on FB and IG for discounts and promotions on our detox and other products!
